The Ashram offers accommodation in a number of guest houses situated within a mile of the main Ashram building. These guest houses are meant primarily for visitors to Sri Aurobindo Ashram and not for tourists looking out for cheap accommodation during their stay in Pondicherry. Hence strict rules of cleanliness and conduct apply in all the guest houses. Please note that these guest houses are not commercial hotels: there are no phones or TVs in the rooms, nor is there any provision for room service. Most close their gates at 10.30 p.m. and guests are expected to return by that time.

Many guest houses are selective and prefer a personal introduction before giving reservations. However, as a service to visitors, we are providing a form by which to request accommodation from the various guest-house managers. You will be notified by email if the accommodation is available or not.

Visitors from abroad must be registered at the Government's Foreigners' Registration Office. Only three of the guest houses mentioned below have the necessary authorisation to do this registration.
